Re: Pension Questions
Date: February 24, 2011
Regarding the questions that many of you have regarding your
pensions, here are the recommendations from our lawyer, Hugh
O'Reily:
Canada Life is the only party with information regarding CHCH
TV retirees and deferred vested members' pensions. Therefore,
you are encouraged to contact Canada Life with your questions,
concerns and
issues. Once annuities are purchased, Canwest/Shaw has discharged
its responsibilities.
If you are not satisfied, it is best to contact the Office of
the Superintendent of Financial Institutions. Julie Corbett
is the Correspondence Officer in Communications and Consultations
and may be able to assist you or direct your query.

Message
from Hugh: Our law firm is updating their web page to reflect
the new process regarding the claims. It will say something
like the following:
Update November 16, 2009:
The Claims Bar date (the date by which all claims have to be
submitted to the Monitor) is November 19, 2009. The Representatives
will submit*modifiable*claims on behalf of all Retirees, as
we do not have enough information to fully evaluate claims.
You should receive a letter confirming this in the next few
days. Please click here for a sample letter.
At this time, you do not need to take any steps. Please keep
your claims forms. We will submit a claim on your behalf and
have reserved the right to change the claim amount once we have
the full information.
